Our Curriculum

A Curriculum Designed for Every Age and Stage

At The Gardner School, learning feels as natural as play. Our classrooms are filled with purposeful experiences that spark curiosity, build confidence, and inspire a lifelong love of learning. Each age group follows a research-based, developmentally appropriate curriculum that balances academics, creative exploration, and social-emotional growth. By blending proven teaching methods with joyful, hands-on experiences, we meet children right where they are and help them grow into who they are meant to become.

Setting the Foundation for a Lifetime of Learning

Preparing for Kindergarten and Beyond

Our programs build the academic and social-emotional skills children need to thrive in Kindergarten and beyond. From early literacy and math foundations to problem-solving and collaboration, each day lays the groundwork for future success.

Nurturing Curiosity and Growth

Children are naturally curious. Our teachers nurture that spark by breaking new concepts into simple steps, encouraging creative thinking, and cheering children on as they master new skills.

Encouraging the Whole-Child Experience

Our curriculum goes beyond the classroom. Enrichment opportunities in music, movement, S.T.E.A.M., and creative arts give children the chance to discover new interests and stretch their imaginations in meaningful ways.

Building Confidence and Connection

Through purposeful play, group activities, and outdoor exploration, children learn how to collaborate, express themselves, and develop confidence in their own abilities.

Partnering with Parents

We believe the best learning happens through partnership. Families receive regular communication and updates, allowing them to celebrate milestones and continue learning moments at home. Together, we help every child grow with heart, purpose, and joy.

Curriculum Overview

(For Infants, Toddlers, and Twos)

Learning begins with wonder. Through purposeful play, guided exploration, and nurturing teacher interactions, our youngest learners build the foundation for a lifetime of curiosity and confidence. The Creative Curriculum encourages sensory discovery, early language development, and social connection while allowing children to explore the world at their own pace.

(For Preschool and Pre-K)

Our World of Wonders curriculum provides developmentally appropriate learning experiences that support each child’s growth across all areas of development. Focused on early literacy, language, math, and social-emotional learning, this program helps children gain confidence, strengthen critical thinking, and prepare for Kindergarten and beyond.

(For Pre-K and Kindergarten)

This engaging, hands-on program helps children build strong foundations in writing, literacy, and early math. Teachers use multisensory techniques that bring learning to life, helping students connect concepts through touch, movement, and visual cues. Each lesson encourages active participation and a growing sense of independence.

(For Private Kindergarten)

Open Court Reading is a trusted, research-based literacy program that helps students become confident, independent readers. Through systematic phonics instruction, vocabulary development, and reading comprehension strategies, children gain the essential skills that open doors to lifelong learning.

(For Private Kindergarten)

Math Expressions combines exploration, discussion, and problem-solving to make math meaningful and fun. Backed by the National Science Foundation, this curriculum helps young learners understand mathematical concepts through real-world examples and hands-on experiences. Students learn to think critically, work collaboratively, and approach challenges with confidence.

Child Assessments and Parent/Teacher Conferences

At The Gardner School, every child’s growth is unique, and we take pride in understanding their individual journey. Our teachers conduct regular developmental assessments to ensure each student is progressing at a pace that’s right for them. These insights help us tailor classroom experiences, reinforce strengths, and provide extra support where it’s needed most. We believe learning is a shared partnership between school and home. Through ongoing communication, scheduled meetings, and parent-teacher conferences, families stay informed and connected to their child’s learning. Together, we celebrate milestones, set goals, and nurture a love of learning that lasts well beyond preschool.
