When it comes to food, it can be fun for preschoolers to explore different textures, tastes, and new cuisines. While all children have their favorite foods, venturing out to a restaurant can introduce your child to new flavors and dishes. When you’re a parent in Schaumburg, you’re always on the lookout for family-friendly restaurants with an atmosphere that’s welcoming to children. After an exciting day exploring the best activities that Chicagoland has to offer, Schaumburg restaurants that have a children’s menu or flexible options are always appreciated.

The Gardner School asked parents in Schaumburg to name their top family-friendly establishments for a successful family meal. We’ve included their picks and a short overview of what you’ll find at each place. Bon appétit!

Egg Harbor Cafe

Check out this special cafe for delicious breakfast and lunch served all day long that keep families coming back for the high-quality ingredients and family-friendly atmosphere. At Egg Harbor, little hands can stay entertained by participating in a coloring contest while they wait for their food. Parents know the importance of nutrient-rich food for growing bodies, and they can rest easy knowing that Egg Harbor prioritizes organic produce and proudly sources only cage-free eggs.

Enterrium

No need to drive to and fro across town to fit in dinner, drinks, and family fun: Enterrium has it all in one place. Families can rent one of Enterrium’s boutique bowling lanes or check out their arcade for a selection of classic and contemporary games, all set in a chic modern atmosphere. Before or after a round of games, enjoy elevated pub fare in the restaurant and bar, which includes a full Little Bytes menu with cost-effective and allergy-friendly options for children.

Fat Rosie’s

Fat Rosie’s is much more than a restaurant; it’s a loving homage to Mexican cuisine and culture. Piñata’s swing from the ceiling as guests dig into well-known favorites like enchiladas de mole, fajitas, and Rosie’s nachos, as well as lesser-known regional dishes like tampiqueña and cochinita pibil. Creative decor and an exciting, delicious menu make Fat Rosie’s a Schaumberg family favorite to return to again and again.

Thai Garden

This is the kind of place one could visit several nights a week and still never make it through all of the incredible dishes on their menu! Slide on into a comfy booth and choose from their expansive selection of curries, noodles, fried rice, and more. From the children’s menu, children can choose from Thai fried rice, noodles, or simple chicken nuggets and fries, among other favorites. With spacious interiors, friendly staff, and fresh ingredients in all of their authentic dishes, it’s no wonder Thai Garden is a local favorite for weeknights out or special occasions.

Blackwood Barbecue

After a day of playing outdoors, nothing satisfies hungry mouths more than a tall plate of barbeque. At Blackwood, with a service set up similar to Chipotle, guests get to choose how to enjoy the mouth-watering meats (or jackfruit, for vegetarian visitors): on a salad, sandwich bun, taco shells, or simply piled high on a platter. Whether you’re a selective or adventurous eater, children can choose from a variety of regional sauces and classic sides to round out their meal.

Shaw’s Crab House

For seafood lovers, the best choice for the freshest fish is at Shaw’s Crab House. Although you’ve got to try their crab legs, they also feature a rotating menu of seasonally available, sustainable fresh fish prepared in a variety of ways. For family events or a celebratory dinner out, Schaumburg parents love this local Chicago restaurant.

Pilot Pete’s

After a visit to the Chicago’s Museum of Science and Industry, follow up with a meal at Pilot Pete’s to continue the adventure. This airplane-themed eatery opens every day at 11 a.m. to welcome aspirational aviators and their families. Munch on children’s favorites like hamburgers and pizzas while sitting underneath planes hovering overhead. It’s also a great option for birthday parties or other special events.

Wildberry Pancakes & Cafe

With an opening time of 6:30 a.m., Wildberry is ready for early-rising little ones and their bleary-eyed parents. You can fuel up on coffee and eggs while your preschooler devours specialty pancakes that fit every child’s preferences. On their Little Berries Kids Menu, little ones can choose from pancakes studded with Fruity Pebbles, Oreos, or fresh berries. Perfect for a special treat or to celebrate a big event, Wildberry Cafe is proof that sometimes it’s okay to have dessert for breakfast.
