If you’re looking for indoor activities in Schaumburg, we’ve got some great ideas. We asked parents at The Gardner School of Schaumburg to share some of the best indoor activities for Chicago families. They responded with a list of Schaumburg’s best indoor activities to keep children entertained when the weather outside is frightful.

Peppa Pig World of Play

Whether your child is a longtime fan of Peppa Pig or this is their first introduction, this play center is sure to spark creativity, inspiration, and fun. Every element is designed specifically for preschool-aged children, and they can move freely between 14 themed rooms that bring the world of Peppa Pig to life. Musical instruments, cozy forts, interactive trains, and a treehouse, among many other features, all promote imaginative play and social bonding, as well as provide an outlet for physical activity.

Yu Kids Island Chicago

Yu Kids Island has one location inside Woodfield Mall and another inside Hawthorne Mall. Children love the enchanting soft play area where they feel safe to explore. They can twirl, bounce, spin, and slide in an environment with soft, brightly colored inflatables. Make sure to check out the Jungle Maze — little ones love to wind their way through this magical space.

Schaumburg Recreation Center

Children know that the Schaumburg Recreational Center is home to The Water Works, an unbelievable indoor water park that provides hours of happy splashing. It’s home to three huge water slides, a rapid water channel, and a water playground. Your guppies can swim from section to section to experience all the fun. At $6 per child for a day of playing, it’s a cost-effective way to spend a hot summer day.

Bowlero Buffalo Grove

With a full arcade, laser tag, pool tables, and unbeatable retro decor, it’s no wonder Bowlero Bowling Alley is a local favorite. This spot is a one-stop shop for a fun day out with the whole family, with a full menu and plenty of alternate play options for school-age children. Bowlero also offers tailored party packages for young children, teens, and all-ages social events, so keep this spot in mind when planning your next family event or birthday party.

Sky Zone

Sky Zone is the perfect play place for children who love a lot of activity. They’ve got so many options to choose from for folks who love to jump and scramble. There’s a climbing wall for scaling great heights and a trampoline basketball court that’s especially fun for the under 6-foot crowd. Sky Zone knows an awesome part of gymnastics is the pit filled with soft foam shapes, so they cut out the tumbling and let you dive right in. Parents of young children love the toddler play area for tiny jumpers, and weekly camps during the summer are a sure bet for those who can’t get enough airborne time.

LEGOLAND® Discovery Center

If you have a LEGO fan at home, this is a can’t-miss destination. They can build amazing creations from the ground up or experience the thrills on one of the many roller coasters and rides. They’ll go home tuckered out from their adventures, and you’ll go home knowing that LEGOs are helping your child explore spatial reasoning, building and engineering skills, and creative problem-solving.

Kids Art and Cafe

Kids Art and Cafe is just as passionate about the balance between play and learning as we are at The Gardner School! To help prevent hours of screen time, this indoor playground and creativity space helps capture children’s imaginations and engage them in meaningful learning experiences. Plus, it doesn’t hurt that the on-site cafe has delicious homemade fare and fantastic coffee drinks. Fuel up and treat yourself while your child explores their creative power!

Schaumburg Township District Library

The events calendar at Schaumburg Library is no joke. Not only are there multiple events for every day of the week, but targeted events for children under 2, between 3 – 5, and 5 – 8. If you have children of different ages and stages, there’s something for everyone here. Schaumburg’s parents love their Saturday Afternoon Movies. These feature family-friendly flicks in the Meeting Room that everyone can enjoy.

Pavilion Aquatic Center

What better time to get wet than when it’s wet outside? Schaumburg parents love this indoor aquatic center with an indoor lap pool, a zero-depth lagoon with a 72 ft. water slide, and a warm water therapy pool. Since it’s indoors, no thunderclouds can interfere with an afternoon of splashing and playing. With regular lap swims for adults and swimming lessons for smaller tykes, the Aquatics Center will help your little ones mature into confident swimmers after just a few weeks.
